Brilliant early medieval oolitic limestone, bathstone head with incredibly defined detail dating to the 12th century from the town of Bath, England. A beautiful grained stone retaining intense detail on the face and head of the figure, showing a defined moustache and hairline, flat nose and bulbous eyes. Likely an interior or architectural detail, now sitting atop contemporary black plinth.
