Bronze Age Cypriot Toggle Pin on Stand

Absolutely stunning in form, this Cypriot bronze clothing pin dating from the Middle Bronze Age, 2000 - 1650 BCE, Cyprus. A stunning and large example featuring a conical head and well defined ridge details throughout the body, with a long and defined pin, still well pointed. These pins would have been used to enclose or secure tunics and cloaks around the wearer’s body. Known as a toggle pin due to the singular hole bore through the centre, used to anchor the pin to its garment to ensure it would not be lost. Displayed on contemporary metal stand.  

An excellent and scarce example of Bronze Age utility. Similar example at the Ashmolean Museum, collection no. AN1994.18.
