Beautiful faience Ushabti dating to the Third Intermediate Period (1077 - 664 BCE) on Ancient Egypt. Stunning blue faience with lovely painted column detailing in dark manganese paint on both obverse and reverse. A lovely scale, with much of the detail remaining on the face and wig. Ushabti or "answerer" were votive objects placed in tombs in mortuary practice as figures as accompaniment into the afterlife, acting as servants for the deceased. An old repaired crack but structurally sound, displayed on a contemporary stand.
