Lovely carved bone sheathed wakishazi blade, fully carved throughout the entire sheath of seated monks throughout. Said to have often been carved of the leg bones of deceased Buddhist monks - these were blades of ceremonial purpose as opposed to battle. Blade unmarked but in remarkable condition, sword dating to the mid to late 19th century, Early Meiji period (1868 - 1912). Repairs throughout and small losses but with intense detail through every inch of the saya. Displayed on contemporary stand.
