Absolutely bafflingly beautiful and evocative skull and two-molar fragment of an ancient Stegodon, an ancient member of the Elephantidae family, ancestor of mammoths and modern day elephants primarily found in Southeast Asia, when the area was still a continental landmass as opposed to a grouping of archipelagos. This exceedingly rare example shows both sets of upper molars, almost tire like in form, and a large portion of the attached skull. An incredibly rare and beautifully sculptural specimen of large and imposing scale.
Theories link Stegodon remains and the birth of the myth of the Cyclops, as skull fragments feature the large, gaping hole where trunks attached to the skull show in similar fashion to the look of a single eye in the centre of the head.
Shipping quoted upon inquiry or purchase, as this large specimen is very heavy.
