Originates from: England

Era: Mid - Late 18th Century

Dimensions: 5“ H x 5” W x 3” D

A perfect early example of English folk art. A cow or horse vertebrae carved to look like John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist church in England, used either as a piece of veneration and worship in a country home, or possibly a piece to mock the Methodist leader. Purchased from a collector who had amassed only three of these pieces after a lifelong search. Very rare, and interesting piece of early English folk art in truly bizarre form.
