Incredible carved stone grotesque of a green man, or wodewose, retaining incredible depth and legibility to the swirling carvings within the facial features. Coming from a 14th century parish church in the village of Week St Mary, between Cornwall and Devon, England, although there is suggestion that this piece was from an earlier construction and placed into the new build of the church in the 14th century. A truly breathtaking and intriguing piece visually and historically, in a strikingly large scale. Presented on a contemporary metal stand.
