Anglo Saxon Iron Spangenhelm on Stand

Exceedingly rare and unbelievably beautiful Anglo Saxon battle helmet or Spangenhelm, from the 4th - 6th century, made of heavy iron. Comprised of two wide iron bands, affixed  by iron rivets to the crown of the helm. Built in a conical shape to deflect blows. An iron banded accent to which the nose piece was affixed is still present although the nose extension has been lost to time. Features two small puncture points on the left side of the crown. Likely uncovered within a bog or river, where oxygen cannot reach, as the iron is in incredible condition. Presented on a contemporary acrylic stand.
