Beautiful and incredibly rare Lauze stone cross, built as an appliqué for a traditional stone roof from the town of Lozere, France. Built in the early 18th century. These stone crosses sat upon traditional early roofs of period homes, built of the same schist stone in the Lozere region, as a symbol of the religious fervour of the area, and as a form of spiritual protection towards the home. This beautifully rendered cross, surrounded by a spiked exterior, exudes an incredibly deep character and sculptural intrigue - showing the craftsmanship of the era within this specific area of France.
