Incredible and very rare black Steatite Baboon figure from the Egyptian Late Period (664 - 332 BCE). This figure, an unusual depiction of the god Thoth, god of writing and mathematics, is shown in beautiful form with a tight coiffure, both hands on seated, bent knees, carved fur and detailing throughout the body with stunning forming of the facial structure. Presented on a contemporary stand. A truly rare and exceptional example.
