Beautiful Ushabti figure from the ancient Egyptian late period (664 - 332 BC) made of incredible black basalt stone. Stunning patina and wear while retaining deep detail throughout. Ushabti, often translated as “answerer”, are funerary figures that were placed in tombs, intended to serve duty to the deceased in the afterlife. Of smaller scale but a beautiful and approachable foray into ancient Egyptian art.
