Beautiful late Bronze Age Canaanite dagger, circa 1200 BCE, from the ancient Canaan, southern Levant area of modern day Palestine, Lebanon, western Jordan and Southwestern Syria. A beautiful example showing the metallurgical craftsmanship of the period Canaanites, showing the defined area where the hilt met the tang, as well as the wide blade portion, although no longer pointed, still relatively sharp. Lovely patina throughout. Strengthening ridge throughout the central portion of the blade still present. Of nice scale, standing 9” high, displayed standing on a contemporary stand.
Provenance: Montreal Antiquities Collection, 2000’s.
