Crude and unusual stone idol head of Gaulish descent, circa 500 - 1000 BCE, found in France. A beautiful and naive example of a Gaulish Idol, a symbol of protection and worship in Celtic Iron Age culture. This beautiful limestone head, with primitively carved facial features, eyes, nostrils and mouth, also features interestingly tapered neck region. An incredible sculpture with historic significance and deeply eccentric character.
