A large and extremely expressive example of ancient Egyptian faience glazed Ushabti from the Late Period, 664 - 332 BCE. Of nice scale at 7” high on it’s stand, standing in typical mummiform pose with crossed arms, holding likely a hoe and spade, used to cultivate wheat in the afterlife. Ushabti or "answerer" were votive objects placed in tombs in mortuary practice as figures as accompaniment into the afterlife, acting as servants for the deceased. Weathered remains of inscription to lower body portion present, an early repaired crack at leg portion. Standing and displayed on fossil Stromatolite block plinth stand.
