Beautifully decorated oarsman tomb figure, from the Middle Kingdom period of Egypt (2052 - 1778 BCE). Decorated across the entirety of the body and face in ancient polychrome over wood, shown wearing a white skirt with clear decoration on the face and hair. These figures were made as offerings in tombs, generally of noble people, to row boats guiding the deceased into the afterlife. Presented on a contemporary wooden base.
