A stunning fragmental sandstone head of a man dating to the New Kingdom era of Ancient Egypt, 1550 - 1070 BCE. Likely a representation of a mid-ranking official with means of commissioning an artisan to create this representation for either his own burial place or a temple offering. A lovely example with wig swept behind the well pronounced ears and beautifully carved facial features, specifically the detail remaining on the right eye, absolutely emblematic of new kingdom era Egyptian art. Of lovely textural sandstone construction, weathering to the nose, very typical. Displayed on contemporary wood and metal stand.

Provenance: ex James Wayne collection, Nevada. Ex Minerva Gallery, Florida.
