Originates from: Europe
Era: Mid 12th Century
Dimensions: 34” H x 4” W x 4” H
Rare 12th century European sword blade, used and lost likely during the second crusade, 1147-1149 and buried until later excavated and unearthed. Likely buried within a bog or swamp, as iron deteriorates over time with exposure to oxygen, making this extremely rare. Severe partition throughout the blade, with evidence of wear and chips due to usage in the upper blade. Mounted to a contemporary black stand for vertical display, although easily removed for other display forms.
