Absolutely incredible mid-17th century Italian renaissance eat dagger featuring its distinctive slim triangular blade and fragmented sectional hilt - this example in an incredibly rare guardless form. These weapons were designed to pierce armour or clothing with their well designed blades, acting often as misericordes or mercy weapons. A stunningly unique hilt end featuring a flayed ends like ears, giving this style it’s name, sits beautifully under the hand on this weapon. Likely made for an artillery officer in Northern Italy, circa 1640. Displayed on contemporary stand.
