An incredibly beautiful and scarcely found Middle Kingdom era (2040 - 1782 BCE) Egyptian foot, of carved cedar wood. Stunningly intricate in its carving with slightly odd elongated toes, this would have likely come off of a larger anthropomorphic coffin. Traces of original gesso and attachment dowel remain.

Provenance: from the collection of notable artist Thomas Frontini, bought in UK art market, 2009. Ex Ancient Resource collection.

Similar to example in Brooklyn Museum, Accession #37.2041.1E.
