Era: 1st - 3rd Century AD

Dimensions: 11” H x 2” W x 2” D (on base)

A beautiful Roman iron household meat cleaver, dating to the 1st - 3rd Century AD, found in England. A lovely example, still sharp, showing a stunningly formed blade and long handle tang. Beautiful patina and wear throughout, with a lovely scale at 11” tall on its acrylic base. Quite visceral and evocative.

From a large Canadian collection of Roman English and Celtic Antiquities, acquired in 1980’s.
