Incredible stone slab with carving of a fox from the Iron Age, Scottish in origin. A beautiful and crude depiction of a fox’s side profile, facing outwards, showing all four legs, tail, profile of head and facial features of eye and ear. This is likely an early showing of clan iconography, with a number of Scottish clans still using the fox as symbol. The dense and heavy stone is inset onto a contemporary iron stand.
