Beautiful kapala made of a turtle’s shell, adorned with pressed metal skull decorations, teeth, ears and other details, as well as beautiful stone eyes. Kapalas were used as ritual implements, often bowls in Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Often made of human skull caps, this piece is interestingly made of a shell, retaining the texture of the shell in the front and beautiful ribbing on the back side. Mounted to contemporary metal stand.
