A perfect early example of English folk art. A cow or horse vertebrae carved to look like John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist church in England, used as a piece of veneration and worship in a country home. Purchased from a collector who had amassed only three of these pieces after a lifelong search. Very rare, and interesting piece of early English folk art.
