Lovely painting of a woman preparing a meal under a beautiful architectural archway, washing and preparing vegetables, a chicken and a rabbit, while an unprepared chicken hangs limp beside. Behind her, stunningly textured and flowing drapery, as well as a caged bird. Tones and colouration are incredibly vivid, a lovely execution and example of Dutch genre painting - circa 1780-1800. Done after Willem Van Mieris (1662 - 1747) in a similar composition to his well known Poultry Seller, housed in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.
Two early repairs present, housed in period carved gilt wood frame.
